Changes to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme

We want to make sure all Third Sector organisations in East Lothian know about an important change to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

From 1st April 2025, joining the PVG scheme will be a legal requirement for certain roles across Scotland.

Volunteer Scotland has created helpful resources and information on its Disclosure Act webpage. They are also running information and drop-in sessions to explain the new requirements and offer support. These sessions are regularly updated with the latest guidance from Disclosure Scotland, so we encourage you to attend if you haven’t already.

The Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 aims to improve the disclosure system by reducing barriers for people with convictions seeking opportunities, while strengthening the PVG scheme to better protect vulnerable groups.
