SMHFA provides general information about mental health problems, helping you learn how to recognise when someone is in mental health distress, how best to offer that initial response, and help them until other suitable or professional help can be found.

The knowledge presented and understanding developed in the course helps to remove stigma and fear, and to give you confidence in approaching a person in distress.  It is based on the general first aid training approach and was developed in Australia.

Our trainers are experienced both in delivering training as well as mental health services. SMHFA is monitored by Public Health Scotland.
