Knowledge Event - What We Do Together: The relationship between volunteering and other activities
Date: Thursday 12th December
Time: 10am - 11.30am
Cost: FREE
Location: Online, via Zoom
Speaker: Dr David Bomark

David’s findings highlight how volunteering provides a unique stability, especially valuable for those benefiting from consistent engagement. However, as volunteer participation evolves, it’s crucial to explore these changes together.
The event aims to bridge the gap between academia and practitioners, inviting you to react to the findings and share your own experiences. David’s presentation will be followed by two breakout sessions with six engaging topics to choose from:
Volunteering as a Social Good: Partnering with GPs and support workers to engage volunteers.
Volunteering as an Accessible Space: How people find their way to volunteering.
Changing Forms of Volunteering: Blurring the lines between volunteer, participant, and beneficiary.
Comparing Volunteering with Other Activities: What unique aspects does volunteering offer?
Generational Volunteering Differences: How should the voluntary sector adapt to generational shifts in volunteering practices?

Mapping Climate Change in East Lothian
In order to plan and adapt to climate change, we need to know what people are experiencing locally.
The East Lothian Climate Hub (part of the Climate Ready South East Scotland project) want to hear your local climate stories. They will help us understand where changes are already being felt, and think about what measures are needed to respond to climate change.
What weather changes are you seeing? Are you beginning to notice climate changes impact on your street, your community or your favourite wild places? People across East Lothian have spoken about seeing heavy rains and increasing winds this year, to very warm summers in recent previous years, to coastal erosion.
Please add your stories to the story map. All experiences count, from increased winds, to flooding to coastal erosion.
