GOVERNANCE

Virtual Members’ Meetings for SCIOs:The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 (Meetings of Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisations) (Coronavirus) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 gave SCIOs a high degree of flexibility for holding meetings without members all being physically present in the same place, even if there wasn’t a provision for this in organisations’ governing document. These regulations allow SCIOs to use remote methods, such as video conference or phone calls to hold meetings with their members if they need to. The time period originally ran until 30 December 2020, this is now extended for a final 3 months to 30 March 2021.Please use this time as an opportunity to amend your constitutionsto ‘future proof’ them by allowing for the use of virtual meetings once the relevant period ends. If you need help to do this, please contact VCEL.

RESEARCH & BLOGS

On behalf of the COVID-19 Modelling and Analysis Hub at Scottish Government: During the coronavirus pandemic, restrictions and guidance has been introduced to limit the spread of the virus. These important restrictions have changed the way we shop, travel, work and socialise. Evidence shows that some people are finding it difficult to follow the restrictions completely for a range of reasons. This short anonymous survey asks a few questions about experiences of coronavirus restrictions, to help understand barriers in more detail. It asks what people have found easy and difficult. Responses will help the Scottish Government continue to support people across Scotland to stay safe and keep their families and communities safe too. Survey link: The survey is available online at: https://consult.gov.scot/covid-19/potential-barriers-to-adherence-with-restrictions.  It will close on 18 December.
