Introduction to the Basics of Self-Evaluation

  • Volunteer Centre East Lothian 56 High Street Tranent United Kingdom (map)

VCEL is delighted to be hosting this highly regarded training session from Evaluation Support Scotland (ESS). ESS helps charities to demonstrate the difference they make. They work with third sector organisations, as well as trustees, intermediaries, and funders, to ensure that they can measure and explain their impact and learn how to improve practice and inform policy. ESS workshops are designed to teach third sector organisations how to evaluate their work.

The ‘Introduction to the Basics workshop’ is designed to help you to get started with simple evaluation systems. It is most useful for practitioners who are new to self-evaluation and will also help those who wish to further develop their existing evaluation systems. The training will be delivered in-person and will take one full day (10am-4pm). The morning session will cover setting outcomes and indicators, as well as designing evaluation methods. The afternoon session will cover analysis and reporting.

By the end of the training, participants will feel better able to:

  • Set and measure project outcomes

  • Review and improve their project’s evaluation plan

  • Analyse information collected to evidence the difference their project is making

  • Report on the impact of and learning from their project.
