Dear Prevent Leads,

I am sure you will have seen the devastating news of the incident in Southport yesterday where a 17 year old attacked a dance and yoga workshop.

This is an ongoing investigation and the motivation behind the attack is not yet clear. Local authorities may however wish to review your own risk assessments in light of this attack.

There will be a lot of strong sentiment emerging from local communities following this attack and the Home Office are feeding this into UKG Ministers to support the response.

We would be grateful if you can send us any community sentiment you are picking up to  SVT@gov.scot copying in Abi and PreventAreas@homeoffice.gov.uk inbox.
