Floating exhibition features young people’s artwork
On 11 August People Know How and their partners and are holding an exhibition showcasing the art and sound pieces of young people who participated in their summer arts programme, Dear Lothian. The exhibition will take place on their jointly owned canal boat, All Aboard, and will feature watercolour paintings, oral histories, soundscapes, and scrapbooks kept throughout the programme!
Over the past two months Dear Lothian has encouraged young people from Edinburgh and East Lothian to explore their local area, through arts sessions developed in partnership with the University of Edinburgh Museums Service, Historic Environment Scotland, Scran, Museums & Galleries Edinburgh and St Cecilia’s Hall. From a visit to Edinburgh Castle and explorations of archive photography and oral histories, to creating soundscapes and watercolours using sounds and sights from their neighbourhoods, Dear Lothian aimed to increase confidence and resilience in their young participants as they prepared for high school.

The exhibition will present the art and sounds produced from these sessions on the All Aboard canal boat at 36-38 Polwarth Terrace, and will be open to the public between 11am and 3pm on 11 August.
