ELHSCP Carers Act Grant Funding

Introduction

East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (ELHSCP) receives Carers Act Funding from Scottish Government, which increased between 2018 and 2023. The aim of this increase was to deliver a significant expansion in carer support at a local level.  ELHSCP have invested significantly in services to support carers and would like to offer the opportunity for Voluntary and Community Organisations to apply for grant funding towards the development of carer support services within East Lothian. Grant funding is available for project activities to be delivered over 2024/25. This process is dependent on unallocated funding being available and may not be available in future years.

Criteria for Funding

Organisations must be able to demonstrate that their project or service is aligned with the key Outcomes in our local Carers Strategy East Lothian Carers Strategy 2023 to 2026 | East Lothian Council

The Partnership is particularly interested in supporting projects that help to deliver community led support at a local level, that are truly person-centred and outcome focused.

Specifically, the fund aims to:

  1. Support Carers wellbeing by offering opportunities for group activities and peer support.

  2. Address the priority issue of increasing opportunities to support Breaks from caring

  3. Support small ‘grass roots’ community groups and organisations to deliver such activities.

Applications can be made for either Core Funding or Project Funding but organisations must be aware that this is not a recurring funding source.  All grants will be provided for a maximum of one year and are not renewable. Project grants are available for existing projects whose funding from other sources has or will come to an end.

Organisations can apply for any amount between £100 and £10,000. Where the full amount applied for is not available ELHSCP may make a reduced offer.

Who can apply?

Organisations that can apply include community groups, charities and social enterprises. All organisations applying for ELHSCP Carers Act grant funding must be formally constituted bodies and must have a bank account.

Organisations receiving Carers Act Funding in this financial year should not apply.
