Police Scotland: Police Scotland is encouraging the friends and family of people living with dementia to sign up to the Herbert Protocol on International Alzheimer’s Day. The organisation is today (Tuesday, 21 September, 2021) adopting a single national process to help officers quickly obtain information about a vulnerable missing person who has dementia, saving vital time in the early stages of an investigation. The national implementation of the Herbert Protocol has been developed in partnership with Police Scotland, Health and Social Care Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Government. Carers or family members can download the Herbert Protocol form from the Police Scotland website, or request a copy from local Health & Social Care Partnership staff, or other agencies, including Alzheimer Scotland.

Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sectorare giving Free Health & Safety Resources in our area on a first-come, first-served basis, a free pack of Health & Safety resources as part of the National Lottery Community Fund funded Health & Safety Service at GCVS

An Accident Book - the Accident Book is an essential document for organisations and staff, who are required by law to record and report work-related accidents, incidents and injuries.
HSE Health & Safety Law Poster laminated A3 - organisations are required to clearly display this in their premises.
They have a limited supply of the packs, please only request one copy if you need it.
East Lothian Climate Action Network (ELCAN)is a coalition of climate action
groups in East Lothian including Sustaining Dunbar, Climate Action East Linton
and East Linton Tool Library. ELCAN will officially launch in January 2022 with a programme of guest speakers talking on a diverse range of climate related topics. Social Security Scotland – Child Disability Payment Events: Following the successful pilot of Child Disability Payment in Dundee, Perth & Kinross and the Western Isles. Social Security Scotland will be launching Child Disability Payment nationally this Autumn. Child Disability Payment will replace Disability Living Allowance for Children, which is currently delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions. It has been designed to provide extra money to help with the costs of caring for a child with a disability or ill-health condition.

Grassroots Clothing is a Scottish charity that provides high quality interview clothes to disadvantaged men in need. Clothes can allow a man to be at his best at a crucial moment in his life, giving him the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools required to succeed at an interview and transform his life. We receive referrals from a variety of Third Sector organisations, including mental health charities, prisons, homeless shelters as well as the Department of Work & Pensions. Many men have been unsuccessful in multiple applications and have been turned down from numerous jobs. All are suffering from a lack of confidence in their own abilities. Keeping Families Together Fund: Fewer children and young people should end up in care by 2030, thanks to a £500 million fund to help support families to stay together.

Clubs in Crisis Fund: The Clubs in Crisis Fund from Made by Sport supports sports clubs and organisations delivering sport for development that have been negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a national fund being delivered locally by community foundations across the UK. Foundation Scotland is distributing all funding across Scotland. The fund aims to support sports clubs and youth organisations that deliver sport for development to recover from the pandemic's impact, and continue their work to achieve social outcomes through sport. Specifically, the fund is looking to support clubs and organisations that intentionally deliver wider social outcomes through sport. These outcomes must fall into one or more of the following categories: - Developing Life Skills - Improving Mental Health - Reducing Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour - Developing Employability Skills - Building Stronger Communities Funding is unrestricted but should clearly meet the criteria of delivering sport for development for young people. Lead Scotlandare hosting a series of webinars on Zoom commencing October 13th about accessibility in digital content. The webinars will examine the most common accessibility problems within digital content and instruct participants how to avoid these issues. These webinars are intended for people looking to improve their employability through enhancing their digital expertise.

Public Protection Office:Responding to Disclosure of Rape and Sexual Abuse, Wednesday 8th December 2021, 9:30am – 12 noon. This training will focus on developing an understanding of the extent and nature of sexual violence including an exploration of myths and attitudes towards sexual violence in society. Participants will develop an understanding of trauma responses, how they can present and how to best respond to disclosures including an understanding of how relevant services such as Rape Crisis can support survivor. CAPSPeople’s Conference is coming up! We are holding our second online People’s Conference on Wednesday the 29thSeptember 2021. The event will start with an opening session from 11am – 12pm looking at what involvement of people with lived experience means in reality. We will have stories from members of our Lothian Voices steering group of their own experiences of involvement and have an open discussion about the issues around involvement. After a lunch break from 1pm we will have 2 workshops that everyone will be able to attend. One of these will be facilitated by staff from Scottish Recovery Network looking at how we can achieve meaningful involvement and the second will be facilitated by CAPS staff looking at what trauma informed involvement looks like. The final session of the day will be all together and will look to create our own ‘Recipe’ for involvement!, The event will finish at 4.30pm Throughout the day there will be regular breaks and a few fun creative activities, along with some entertainment in the form of songs and poems from members of the Lothian Voices steering group!
