LOCAL & NATIONAL GOVERNMENT

Scottish Government: From Monday 19 July, all parts of Scotland not currently there will move to level 0. However, this move will be made with certain modifications.
These include:

  • Hospitality venues being required to close at midnight.

  • In indoor public places where there isn’t already a 1m rule in place, the physical distance requirement will reduce from 2m to 1m and will apply between different household groups.

  • Outdoors, a limit on the size of outdoor group gatherings will be kept at 15.

  • For the next three weeks at least, there will be a requirement for 1m distancing between different groups of 15.

  • A gradual return to the office has been postponed until after 9 August at least.

The First Minister said she still hoped Scotland could move beyond level zero from 9 August - the point at which the government aimed to scrap most legal restrictions.
Ministers also plan remove the blanket requirement for close contacts of those who test positive to self-isolate, as long as they have had two doses of vaccine, at that point. BBC WEBSITE

FUNDING

The Scottish Government’s Volunteering Support Fundis now open for applications. The £3.3 million Fund will be delivered on its behalf by Impact Funding Partners over the next 3 years. Organisations can apply for up to £30,000 to March 2024. The fund is geared towards organisations in Scotland with an annual income of under £250,000. It will enable Scotland’s small to medium sized third sector organisations to recruit additional volunteers who will contribute towards delivering a new volunteering project, or extending/expanding an existing one, and improve how volunteers are supported in their role. The fund will support organisations to deliver on four key outcomes:

  • Increase diversity in the third sector’s volunteer pool, to particularly include people who experience disadvantage or would traditionally experience barriers to volunteering

  • Improve governance, leadership and financial knowledge of organisations through the recruitment of skilled volunteers to enhance the third sector's capacity

  • Improve organisational capacity to provide opportunities for skills and personal development through volunteering

  • Enhance services delivered by organisations to better meet the needs of the communities they serve
